Covered Entry Repair
In the 1970s, many of the homes built in San Diego were designed with long, covered entries in front. After several decades, many of these front entries need serious repair.
Some of these front walkway overhangs were designed with open beams to allow sunlight to filter through. Unfortunately, exposed beams need a lot of extra maintenance because they aren’t protected from the elements by a roof. Decades’ worth of sun and rain take a toll.

Repairing Your Covered Front Walkway
If you have a rotted covered entry, TR Construction can remove any rotted beams and rafters or replace the entire covered entry when necessary. We specialize in rotted wood beams and rafter repair, and can repair any damaged stucco columns or wood posts.
We can rebuild exposed beams if you want to maintain the open beam look. Or many homeowners ask us to close in the exposed beams so that they don’t have to worry about the ongoing maintenance.
Front Porch Additions
When additions like covered entries require a building permit, we have a draftsman who takes care of all the drawings and submittals to the required building departments throughout San Diego County. This means that one contractor is able to take care of everything for you, including reroofing your house and making the modifications. You don’t have to worry about different contractors coordinating the project properly.
Covered Front Walkway Benefits
There are a lot of great reasons for adding a front porch, covered entry, entry extension, portico, walkway overhang, covered walkway, or front door overhang to your home.
- Adds curb appeal to the front of your home.
- Protects your front door, windows, and hardware from the elements.
- Protects you and your guests from rain and sun when leaving or entering your home.
- Gives delivery drivers a safe place to leave your packages out of the rain and heat.
- Provides a comfortable place to sit and enjoy the outdoors and chat with neighbors.
When adding a covered entry, you will want to make sure that the new roof extension fits in with the rest of your roofline and home. Our professional experience with both carpentry and roofing allow us to make sure the job is done right from start to finish.
